Pastor Sherman Scales was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He came to Pflugerville, Texas in June 2005 as a result of a job transfer to work at Dell Computers. Pastor Scales accepted Christ at the age of 14, and he accepted his calling to the ministry in 1985. He was blessed to have joined ALC in 2010.
Pastor Scales attended John F. Kennedy High School. After graduating, he attended Nicholls State University to play football and received a BA Degree in Hotel Restaurant Management. Later on Pastor Scales earned an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from Delgado College. After receiving his call to the ministry, Pastor Scales attended Union Baptist Theological Seminary and received a BA Degree in Divinity.

Pastor Scales married his amazing wife, Larissa, in 2018. Their blended family has seven kids: Sherman III, Sharron, Theresa, Brittony, Symone, Leonard (Lenny), and Mikaela, and so many grandkids, according to Pastor Scales, that they could have a basketball team.
Pastor Scale's hero is his mother, Peggy Scales, a single parent, who worked night and day to provide even when times were tough, telling her children to always trust God and depend on Him.
Pastor Scales shared that what he loves about ALC is that we are a Church that really understands and cares about people. "I love that we have a Pastor who is not afraid to deliver the Word, and who doesn't allow tradition to hold him back. I love the creativity, I love the worship!", Pastor Scales declared.
