Let’s reflect on Sunday’s WORD:

WLGTDWI Pt. 3: ******* 1 Peter 4:8-11
8 Above all hold unfailing your love for one another, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Practice hospitality ungrudgingly to one another. 10 As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who utters oracles of God; whoever renders service, as one who renders it by the strength which God supplies; in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Some years ago, Dr. Karl Menninger----MORE LOVE HEALS WHATEVER IS WRONG, MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER…
LOVE looks beyond faults
-       LOVE doesn’t condemn because of fault *Peter says to them that they must not allow their LOVE for one another to fail/die…  He claims this love is necessary because it “covers” a multitude of faults/sin.  {See RSV Galatians 6:1- Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Look to yourself, lest you too be tempted.}
-       LOVE tries to cover one’s fault *LOVE not only won’t CONDEMN one’s faults, but also will COVER one’s faults.  It is one thing to not judge, BUT it takes a lil more LOVE to cover someone’s faults…  The people of faith need to stop making “NEWS” out of our brother and sisters falling because it hurts the KINGDOM more than anything…  Real love doesn’t want the one you love to look bad so you try to cover…

LOVE gives without grumbling
-       “practice…”  LOVE is a VERB!!! ---It requires we “do” something. *Peter reminds us that love is more than a noun, but a VERB.  Love is not something you feel, but something you SHOW.  This word “practice” suggests that to LOVE we have to DO something. (See John 3:16- For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE…)
-       Not only are we called to generosity, but to do it without complaint… *Peter continues to clarify the way we should give.  It means nothing if we give but do it with an attitude.  The person who LOVES practices “hospitality” and generosity without complaining.
(2 Corinthians 9:7 Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.)

LOVE seems like we represent God
-       The words we SPEAK ought to mirror the love and sentiments of God…
*Peter says when the people of God speak… the LOVE of God ought to be such a great part of our lives that our words are seasoned with his LOVE.  When people hear our talk it ought to mirror HIS.
-       When we LIVE by LOVE, all the Glory goes to God! *Finally, Peter expresses that when we live out the LOVE of God in our lives, it will bring Glory to God…  (See RSV Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.)

LIFE Kudos: Special Kudos this week goes all of those who were a part of the “Street Team” for this past Sunday’s sermon…  I thank you for your willingness and cooperation on such short notice…  YOU ALL ROCK!!!  Thanks also for the sacrifice of your personal resources to make shirts, buy LOVE gifts, etc… THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
